Missionary Work is "Maine-ly" Enjoyable

June 15, 2015

Hello everyone!! :)

To start off, Alex has a baptismal date, a quit-smoking date, and a potential wedding date!!!!! WOOO!  So exciting!! We asked him the baptismal interview questions last night, and it was amazing how knowledgeable he is in the gospel. When we asked him what the law of tithing, law of chastity, and word of wisdom was, he basically recited parts of the pamphlets we have given him. He said "the sisters taught me well!" but, it was all him and the Spirit. He has taken every challenge we have given him to heart, and I'm so excited to see how he continues to progress and build his testimony. Funny thing, in his lesson last night, we were meeting outside on his porch and a HUGE bumble bee flew by and he freaked out and jumped right out of his seat and sister duncan and I and the member we brought with us just stood still and seemed like the bee didn't even bother us, which it didn't, but he said, "you guys aren't afraid of anything! you're Mormon!" haha he has realized more and more how we aren't as fearful of the Adversary as most people, because of the way we live our life and how strong our testimony is in Christ.

I was reading in the Book of Mormon today about how the devil is able to "occupy our house" and I have seen that firsthand. The Adversary is real, and I am so grateful for the knowledge I have about God and Jesus Christ and see how this gospel blesses everyone's life if they choose to accept it and live it.

We have an investigator who won't even give the Book of Mormon a chance. He and his friend always try to "bible bash" us and they get so caught up in our use of wording as we explain things, and try to get us stumbled up on our explanations. They told us that they plan to help save us and help us come unto Christ. Wait, isn't that our hope? Apparently not. Apparently we are "brainwashed" and are "going to hell". So ridiculous. I have never experienced being sincerly sorry for someone not understanding the gospel, and that is what is happening with Tim and Jannett. They are helping me strengthen my testimony each week in the Book of Mormon and learning how to "choose my words wisely". I offered a closing prayer in our lesson, and that was the hardest prayer I have ever said in my life!! I was so careful with my choice of words, it was insane! Ever since we've met with them, Sister Duncan has become so passionate in "proving them wrong" and helping them not be as blind, but we're probably going to drop them because they won't gicve the gospel a chance. We invited them to pray to know if the book of mormon was true, and they told us to pray to know if the book of mormon is not true. We took that challenge, and sister duncan laughed afterwards and said "they quoted the book of mormon and didn't even know it!" She's been going through and "Elder Holland" phase because of her desire to help them see the truth and her passion of sharing what she has studied. I say "Elder holland" phase because I told her she is the young, girl version of Elder Holland because of her passion and strong testimony of the gospel. Let's just say she is pretty legit. :)

That's pretty much it for this week!! Have a wonderful week!!

Keep P.U.S.H.ing!
Sister Pierce

Tracting by the beach. It was crazy how we would walk in a forest and then turn the corner and be by the ocean. So cool!

Sister Duncan's mom makes pillow cases for her and her companions, and we got 4th of July Lobster pillowcases with our names embroidered on them! So sweet!! :)
